Out with the old
There's something special about the arrival of spring that can lift your mood and renew your energy! When you take the time to refresh your home, you are giving yourself a mental boost!
With the changing of the seasons comes a time to renew your home's aesthetic. Spring is a time for renewal and refreshing, and what better way to do that than by sprucing up your home's aesthetic? And, you don't need to even do that much or spend a lot to achieve it. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to start with your front porch!
Update Your Front Porch
Your front porch is the first thing people see when they come to your home, so why not make it a welcoming space? Consider adding a new doormat, or two if you like layering them. Add a fresh coat of paint to the front door, new wreaths and some potted plants or flowers. You can also add a cozy seating area with cushions or throw pillows to make a comfortable space to relax.
Is Brown the New Black?
This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm going to say it anyways. I am tired of seeing the black and white buffalo check mat with a welcome mat on top! I know, I know! It was a trend and I have it too! But, Spring has me thinking it's time for a change. Let me show you some examples of what I feel are new and fresh this year instead.
Building a dimensional front porch
Let's walk through the layers of a front porch. I have linked all of these back to Amazon to make it super simple to update your entry fast and cost effectively! For less than $200 you can create a fresh look for Spring!
Base Layer Rug
Let's start with the base layer of your porch! This is where we have been seeing that black and white simple buffalo check for years. I have included one version of a black and white in case your still looking for this but I am really fan of the brown and bone and black and bone.
Door Mat
Now that you have a base layer the next thing you want to do is layer a door mat on top. You can always stick to a basic welcome mat but I love these two geometric options below. I also love the interest it provides when layered with a stripe or a check.
Wreaths
Personally, I enjoy a whimsical front door wreath and for Spring I like the mix of eucalyptus with hints of berries and another leaf. Depending on how simple or elaborate you like, you can get some great options on Amazon for these. I also like to go with no ribbon because then I can always switch out and add my own ribbon as I want but I included an option with ribbon and a little more color too.
Planters
Lastly, add some flowers or greenery to planters. You can plant real flowers or use fake. Here are two options you can consider that don't break the bank. The first is a modern minimalist concrete look that you can add your own flowers or plants to. The second comes with a faux boxwood topiary and is a really great price as a set of two.
How to Put them together:
Here are a few ways you could pair them.
Adding touches of Spring to your home doesn't have to be expensive or time-consuming. There are a number of things you can do that give you a lot of bang for your buck and will help you celebrate the changing of the seasons. Stay tuned for more Spring tips coming soon!
